Flora Fauna

Flora & Fauna

The Hunter Valley Retreat & Conference centre is a natural haven for beautiful bird life, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, wombats, echidnas and goannas. Situated on 200 acres of pristine bushland at the foot of the Watagan Mountains the centre provides the perfect backdrop to relax, de-stress and let go of the busyness of everyday life and begin to regenerate in the simplicity of nature.

Wake up to the beautiful call of the Kookaburras who according to Aboriginal legend their laughter in the morning is a signal for the sky people to light the great fire that illuminates and warms the earth by day. You can hear them when dawn is just breaking and at sunset.

While you are here take the time to enjoy the beautiful bush walk up to Miracle Mountain and enter a wonderland of native fauna, beautiful banksia’s, various varieties of gums and other exquisite native trees . See beautiful wild flowers dotted through the native bushland as you amble along the tranquil sandy trail. Feel like you could be the only person on the planet. Enjoy the open vista from the back of the property as you look across to majestic Mount Myall and the superb Watagan mountains.

You may like to take the kids to explore the old wombat holes or if your taste is more to introduced species, you may like to give one of the resident Great Danes a cuddle.
